چکیده
The unloaded human finger with a taut deep flexor functions as a bi-articular chain. because the angulations of the distal two joints are mechanically coupled. In this chain two flexors exist: the superficial and deep flexor. However, for elementary control of the unloaded finger. only one flexor is required. This puts forward the question of which flexor is most suited for unloaded finger control. In the present paper it is argued that due to the chiasma tendinum and the coupled rotations of the distal two joints. the deep flexor is anatomically better positioned than the superficial flexor for optimal unloaded finger control. ;i‘ 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd. Direct solution of the inverse optimization problem of load sharing between muscles
Introduction: Muscles crossing a joint usually outnumber its degrees of freedom, making it impossible to evaluate their forces unambiguously. This redundancy is typically handled by assuming that loads are shared between muscles according to an optimization law, which leads to constrained minimization of an objective function [3]. It is not clear, however, how to express such function in terms ...
متن کاملStrategies for combining classifiers employing shared and distinct pattern representations
The problem of combining multiple classifiers which employ mixed mode representations consisting of some shared and some distinct features is studied. Two combination strategies are developed and experimentally compared on mammographic data to demonstrate their effectiveness. q 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
متن کاملRecognizing Hamming Graphs in Linear Time and space
Hamming graphs are, by definition, the Cartesian product of complete graphs. In the bipartite case these graphs are hypercubes. We present an algorithm recognizing Hamming graphs in linear time and space. This improves a previous algorithm which was linear in time but not in space. This also favorably compares to the general decomposition algorithms of graphs with respect to the Cartesian produ...

The surface velocity of natural debris flows is one of the main physical parameters for developing effective disaster prevention techniques. The authors already presented the result of velocity vector field measurement of debris flow by the spatio temporal derivative space method. In this paper, we propose a multi resolution spatio temporal derivative space method, and apply the method to some ...
